Our solutions integrate process and mathematical

for heuristics and graphical user interfaces.
This approach creates high service factor
robust applications with intuitive interfaces
and ease of maintenance.
With this combination of mathematical and
heuristic based approach, we have been able
to develop solutions meeting the flexibility
of business requirements and the robustness
of process operations. Some of these applications
are:
Advisory/Expert Systems: These
customized real time expert systems for
process units (Hydrocracker, FCC, Reformer,
Sat Gas, Alky, Hydrogen, Utilities, etc.)
advise the operator of immediate and predicted
events with suggested alternatives. The
applications use a Gensym/G2 based process
unit specific knowledge-base built on the
basis of operator experience, process engineering
and operating guidelines.
Demand Forecast System: The first
phase of this application uses a Gensym/G2
system to track the deviations between planned
and actual pipeline shipments. The G2 capability
is used to record and provide reasons/explanations
for updates in planned demands and also
to provide a statistical analysis of the
differences observed. Future work will further
identify the deviation profiles of each
customer and provide updates predictions
and confidence intervals to planned demands.
