DEA (Decipher for Events and Alarms) is a comprehensive package for Collecting, Archiving, Displaying and Interpreting Process Alarms and Events

Successfully implemented on four (4) plants with traffic exceeding 25,000 alarms/day

 

How Can DEA Help Improve Profitability:

  • By Reducing Unplanned Shut-Downs;

The DEA package consists of four components: 

  1. OPC Interface

  • Industry standard OPC Interface for Alarms & Events 

  • Minimal User input required (Network Address, DCS OPC AEServer and Archiving DataBase Name)

  • Options of Filtering Alarms before saving (Setup DataBase Tab option)

  • Option of Parsing Alarm Messages (Setup Messages Tab Option)

  • OnScreen Display of A&E for debugging help

  1. Viewer

  • Displays A&E as they occur in Real-Time

  • Identifies Repeat Alarms to Help Operator focus on unique alarms

  • Two lists of A&Es - one based on user’s filter settings (TagName, Condition and Identifier) for easy screening of alarms 

  • Operator can Pause/Scroll Alarm Lists

  1. Reports (Excel Based)

Excel Add-In (.xla) with many pre-set reports:

  • Most Frequent Alarms

  • Types of Alarms

  • Operator Intervention and Response Time

  • Correlation between Alarms

  • Time based distribution of Alarms

  1. Advisor

  • Helps Operator identify Associated Alarms and Root Cause of Alarm

  • Suggests Corrective Action to alleviate alarm condition

  1. Other Features

Additional Modules can be developed and integrated with the DEA program for:

  • Dynamic Alarm Suppression (based on identified root alarms, secondary alarms can be suppressed)
  • Process Mode based alarm settings. New alarm limits can be downloaded to the DCS based on production and process operating modes
  • Confirmation of Root Cause by interfacing with Process Historian
